Dachshund
The Dachshund comes in miniature and standard sizes, generally ranging from under 11 pounds to about 16-32 pounds as an adult. Dachshunds can be devoted and entertaining family puppies, though their bold nature and delicate backs require gentle handling, supervision with children, and care around stairs and jumping.
Smooth coats shed moderately, while long-haired and wirehaired varieties need additional grooming. Life expectancy is commonly 12-16 years.
