Where Do We Get Our Puppies From?

Many puppies advertised for sale online come from unethical breeding operations where profit is prioritized over the health and well-being of the dogs. In these environments, mama and papa dogs may be denied outdoor play, affection, proper veterinary care, clean living conditions, and basic socialization. Mother dogs may also be bred repeatedly with little or no time to recover between litters.

Why does USDA licensing matter?

The USDA, through its Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), enforces the federal Animal Welfare Act and its regulations for breeders and other animal businesses that fall under USDA jurisdiction. These regulations establish minimum standards for areas such as veterinary care, housing, sanitation, feeding, water, exercise, recordkeeping, and humane handling.
